I used a dremel with the 106 bit as recommended and it did a fine job. Wanted to preserve the natural color of the stars, so applied 3 coats of polycrylic clear gloss to the entire flag.

same great product as the star field, end result was great. I do hit the edges and both sides with a flap-wheel before use to make sure there's no tiny burrs, I use a dremel tool with a "router" base, that might hang the base up.

This template is a great tool to carve with! I found the dremel to be a tough option for carving on a hardwood like walnut (I burned through four bits just on this project), but if a CNC is not available it definitely does the job! It requires a fair amount of finish work post carving but the template is very high quality and I could see it lasting for a good number of projects. I also appreciate the fact that it's designed around the G-Spec American flag size chart because that is what I used to build this flag. This is a G-Spec size large flag and I went with the four foot flag template, it was a perfect fit. The shipping was fast and the customer service answered a question I had quickly.

I wanted the metal stencil because I had never used a Dremel before and I figured I needed something more than paper. The stencil arrived in less than a week. I practiced a few cuts before doing the actual project and it worked to perfection. Totally forgiving with my wandering Dremel bit, but after mastering that it is just great. I like the 13 stars and 1776 theme the best, but it also takes me about 20 minutes to make the design. 50 stars I think would wear out my hand. Anyway, I love it.
